Giro (spoilers)

Postby Phil H » Sun May 08, 2011 6:36 pm

Well, it's easy to say that if Cav had done what Petacchi did then he would've been DQ'd. The overhead footage did look dodgy. But I'm sure Cav will take it calmly and accept that these things just happen.

Looks a tough route this year. Lots of mountain top finishes. Tom has made himself a results wallchart and is studiously filling it in.

That's how Lee should have dealt with yesterday's problem.

Gotta hand it to both Cav and Petacchi.

I am going to give it to Petacchi that he was professional enough after the finish to not acknowledge Cav's rant and rave and basically he celebrated and literally looked the other way.

Cav also gave a pretty decent press interview later, explained his feelings and apologised to Petacchi.

Nicely done by both of them.

- if only Petacchi had been Greipel!

Cheers.
Pettachi gets my vote. Anyone who can still compete like that with the level of Asthma he has must be one to cheer.

Horrible viewing today, wish I hadn't have been watching it live. Sad sad day for Wouter Weylandt, his family, friends and the sport. RIP :(

I've just got home from work. Really, really dreadful news. You saw it so do you know what happened?

Didn't see the crash. Reports on what happened bit sketchy.

Apparently he touched the guardrail with his pedal and then crashed against the wall on the other side...

Sad day for his family

It was. I always like what Millar has to say and he always puts it so well even in these circumstances.
Also liked some of the fellow riders' tweets relayed on cyclingnews.
