Richmond Park - New Lap Record

Here's a short video taken of a new up and coming rider who visited RP, and thrashed the unofficial lap record - a new time to aim for for those that regularly use RP as their training ground !

Yep. On normal roads, speed limits only apply to powered vehicles, not to cyclists. Richmond Park is a royal park thing though so the 20mph applies to everyone - except London Dynamos.

Thats a phenomenal time-I remember timing Chris Lillywhite doing regulalar 15min circuits in the 90s when he was a pro with Linda McCartney (he was using a bog standard road bike though).

No racing down Ryde Pier on the Isle of Wight either - ALL traffic is restricted to 10 mph.

Failure to keep to speed limit may result in bikes being banned from the pier - I did want to know how those without speedos were supposed to know if they were speeding or not, especially as 10mph isn't exactly speeding even for a sit up and beg type bike
