Marshalling opportunity/request

Postby Grahame » Wed Jun 08, 2011 1:45 pm

Our round of this year's Beastway series is on Wednesday 6th July 2011 at the Redbridge Cycling Centre (AKA Hog Hill). Racing starts at 7:30pm and finishes at about 8:30pm.

Marshalls should be at the site by 7pm, and are expected to help take down course markings after racing has finished. You should expect to be off site by about 9:15 - 9:30pm. The organisers of the series traditionally invite marshalls to come to the pub for a quick drink after the event.

We need 6 marshalls to run the evening, so please volunteer below.

If you are racing in the series and marshal an event, you will not suffer a points deduction - you will be awarded your average points score as "marshalling points" to contribute to your series total.

It's Sarah's Nutella now. I'll see what can be arranged.

We have Sylv, EdO and me.

We need 3 more volunteers to avoid the embarrassment of failing to meet our club's commitment to support a grass roots racing event.

Oh, and if we do meet our commitment, the tyranny have a history of making a donation to club funds (recently £150 per year) which help keep the subs down.

Come on, 3 more volunteers required.

Grahame,

Although on my birthday I might be able to do it, hopefully I won't have to bail out like last year when my wife locked herself and the children out of the house (I feel I owe you one!). I will check with the family administrator if that evening if free and let you know ASAP.

Excellent.

7 of us if everybody turns up.

If any of you can see fit to get there a bit earlier, we'd appreciate a hand with building the course starting at about 3pm, but that is less important than actually marshalling the event, and helping take the course down afterwards.

Lifts back south of the river arranged in my car for Sylv and EdO, potentially room for 1 more.

Right it is time to sort out the transportation logistics.

Who needs a lift back, and who can offer spaces in their car?

I would normally take a bike with me, and have a longstanding commitment to give Sarah (another of the Beastway organisers) a lift home, leaving 1 seat which is filled by EdO (Sylv is currently planning to take a roadbike and lights to ride back). I could ask another of the organisers to look after my bike for a week, that would free up 2 extra seats, but no bike space.
