Cycling Glasses

..ok, its time to raise my profile, need a sheek looking pair of cycling glasses....don't really know where to start as there's so many brands/types with such a broad range of prices and functions!

Main reason actually is potection from the wind, when at speeds... as I go half blind at the moment with watering eyes

I'd like ones with interchangeable lenses, ie dark for sunny days, yellow for overcast?, clear for night

Whats everyone else wearing? including price and functionality.....any tips much appretiated.
I wear prescription glasses.but will get contact lens for this.

Without doubt, Oakleys are the way to go.

Pricey though they are, especially the lenses.

They are the best,

Dont believe the hype! Look at the rudy project selection, they wont make you look like Roy Orbison

I love my rudy projects - yellow lenses for commuting, dark brown for summer. No fog.

I was the guy who was chatting about the contact lens and Oakleys/Rudys.

I certainly rate the Oakley M Frames although I did pick them up in the states for almost 50% of UK prices. I think they run at £89 upwards.

I find them really comfortable and as a contact lens wearer they don't allow any wind in around the eyes which is really important to avoid streaming (not that I go fast enough for that to happen). In addition, I find the only touchpoint for the M frames is at the bridge of the nose which is handy if sweating in the summer, i.e. avoids sweat rolling down the lens.

Rudy's are cheaper and Ullrich uses them so they can't be bad!!

End of the day you want to get sunglasses that are comfortable and then make sure you look after them.

I just came back from GB's, had a real good look at the Rudy's and Oakleys...tried so many on I'm sure they wanted to kick me out! I decided on the Rudy- Freeon's, they felt comfortable, had choice of interchangebale lens...an most importantly look like Bad Boy glasses on me!

I shall pick them up later this week, so look forward to testing them out as soon as

A factory outlet in croydon (near fiveways in purley) that has been given 10/10 from roadcyclinguk review.

Good dedicated and knowledgeable service and £128 for frames with polarising prescription lenses.

I've sent them an email to ask if they will give 10 % off to Addiscombe members as we are their local club...will let you know if I hear.

I'm hoping to wear the sunglasses so I can pass unnoticed until I get my fitness back !

I got sick of having to bin glasses cos they got scratched so got these - £20 from wiggle, three lenses and case. They even look ok.

yeah I heard of Optilabs, and heard they were good...I think Phil Nash used them. I just had a look at their site, they seem nice....but not a huge range.

Think my wheels do actually make a big difference. Imagine what a pair of wheels and some sunglasses would do.....

Yohan, I have just ordered a pair of sports prescription glasses from optilab - photochromic varifocals which are are virtually clear in the dark so safe to use at night. Their prices are on their website http://www.optilabs.com. I have just paid £168 for mine and considering how much my normal glasses cost this seems a bargain to me. I haven't paid for them yet, so I might quiz them about the 10% discount Ajay mentioned. They are open 'till 4pm Saturday, and 8pm Monday and they do normal designer glasses too.
