Olympics tickets

Postby Jon H » Wed Apr 20, 2011 5:18 pm

Who's applied for tickets?

I've stuck an application in for a couple of velodrome sessions (4th & 5th August afternoon) and a couple of athletics sessions (4th Aug morning & 6th August evening).

Otherwise, freebie sessions at Box Hill for the road race and Kingston for the time trials.

Got mine in - a couple of track sessions, BMX, swimming, athletics, diving, horse stuff for Mrs I, hockey, basketball and, er, some beach volleyball  .

That's next year's summer holiday budget spent then :? .

Did you get in early I was just told it was oversubscribed?

Got some at weekend, just mtb/ triathlon and one track/field but thinking of getting more of the latter today in case i don't get in.

Once I found out that there was no benefit in applying early, I left it to the last minute  .

I'm refusing to give any more money than is absolutely necessary to the drug abusers' sports fortnight.

I may go to see the road races and time trials, but only in the non-ticketed areas.

We've gone for Athletics (a middle-distance semis session, Swimming ( hopefully a Rebecca Adlington event session) and Tennis (for Jean) - couldn't enthuse her about the Beach Volleyball. Wot, no track cycling? No, because the only reasonably priced sessions are a.m. early-rounds sessions lasting just 1-1/2 hours. There'll be lots of other big events held at that velodrome for a while to come, with the same top riders.

This way, I reckon we'll sample the Olympics atmosphere, with, naturally, also freebie views of the Road Race, TT, Marathon and anything else going on that's free. That's if we get picked in the draw anyway. Already been on a tour round the site on Hackney Marshes. Seems that things are so well advanced that, at a push, they could run some things this summer, certainly the track cycling.

I applied for about a grand's worth and got none. :(

Apparently they are releasing more tickets but I'm told they are mostly for the football :(

Looks like its the road race and TT for me :D
