Richard Viney & myself started our SPOCO South East campaigns this morning, and let's just say it could have been warmer. There were still icy patches at the sides of some of the roads and the temperature was hovering about zero.
The race did exactly what it said on the tin; 20 miles and hilly. Well mostly rolling/draggy with a couple of short steep hills thrown in for good measure, one just after the start which was OK when fresh, and another just before the end to finish everyone off and provide a good spot for the photographer to get pictures of people suffering. Some fast descents too, some of which I took flat out, and some of which I bottled out on and sat up.
1st & 2nd placed riders were the only two to get under 50 minutes in 49:29 & 49:39. I did 55:06 for 12th place overall & 2nd place in the 'B' category. Richard Viney did 58:01 riding his road bike rather than TT bike.
