Is it wise to post under real names, particularly where the surname is unusual? When i first joined in 2005 I discovered an old schoolmate on the forum by virtue of his surname. That, and the area where he lived would have been enough, given it is a public forum, to determine an address from where some highly desirable bikes could be stolen.
Bikeradar seems to manage well enough without real names. And we can always rely on moderators to lock or delete threads that offend their sensibilities or that add nothing to the common good.

I don't think Marco's asking for people's full names, just the name they're known as when they meet other members. For example I don't think Snoop's mum calls him Snoop, but I'd guess the majority of members know who it is when he posts.

BikeRadar is very different. It's a worldwide forum. Addiscombe is a local club. We pretty much know each other. Yes, there's the occassional troll. Like it or not the Addiscombe Forum is personal. I probably know about 3 other users on BikeRadar, and I doubt very much many of you know my BikeRadar username.

I think Marco's got the right idea.

Go on tell us Keith ! bet you're Frenchfighter or P-Tucker :D

Me, I'm simply kieranb on BR.

Anyway the same issue cropped up on BR years ago, with people talking about their bikes and showing their commuting routes on google maps, it would have been very easy to find out where they lived.

Save as jpg and if you make it about 120x120 it should be small enough, otherwise host it on a website and link too it, facebook, photobucket are 2 examples where you could do that.

BTW anyone got a magnifying glass that I could use on dombos picture? Just be careful that the sun is not out, we don't want to burn it. Oh yes I remember now, we are in the UK, no sun here.

Dombo can you change your picture please to one where people will recognise you or remove it thanks.

Perhaps Argy could do the same, change it to one that doesn't make English football fans want to gag? No offence
