Beastway #8

Postby stamourp » Thu Jul 07, 2011 4:32 pm

Thanks to all of those from Addiscombe who marshalled at last night's Beastway. Addiscombe got a double cheer on the line as the sponsoring club; no other club has had that all season.

Sadly I was unable to deliver the goods despite the support. A stomach bug overnight meant all I'd had to eat in 24hrs was a bowl of green soup, and my objective was just to pick up whatever points I could having been thwarted by the traffic last week and unable to make the start. Then my chain snapped at three quarters distance so a night - and probably results-wise :( - series to forget for me. Still, there's always the team race (see separate thread).

Kind regards

Peter

fyi I was timing your laps 9:03, 9:08 and 9:22 (this was the first lap after the youth riders were on the course I think), next lap you didn't show so I guess then your chain fell off.

Sorry Carl, missed your message. I was at Redbridge on Saturday (Mark Field was there also). Good race, winner went off the front at two to go after many failed breaks, and then a bunch sprint for the rest of the places.

Hoping for a better performance at Beastway tomorrow, if anyone from the club plans to be there.

Thanks

I'll be there as always, setting up the course, riding round (slowly) in a marshall's tabard, then taking the course down before heading home.

If you were feeling rough Peter, maybe you should have marshalled - as you would have gotten points equal to your average in the series so far.

See you tonight

Wise words, and I wish I'd known that before.

Still, last night was more successful. I didn't see you there but you would have given Billy Joe Whenlan a run for his money. As usual, he skidded onto the start eight seconds before the horn blew even though his car had been parked up for at least half an hour (what does he do in the interim?).

Look forward to racing at the team event on 27 July. From memory this starts at 19:00 rather than 19:30 so they can do the presentations after.

Thanks

The rule on marshalling points is clearly posted as rule 12 on our website: http://www.beastway.com/index.php?optio ... &Itemid=53

He was warming up on the course and the lower part of the road circuit.

My understanding it that we are having the team race at the normal start time of 7:30, but the race will be shorter than the usual "about an hour-ish" to let the presentations be completed at a reasonable time.
