I received this through the club website...

BTW

Its the 13th-18th August

Here goes...

Would your cycling club be interested in an incredible pro-team experience that includes cycling a section of the 2012 Olympic Road Race route?

We are running a charity cycling challenge from Guildford to Glasgow this August and we could offer your club six places on this fantastic event.

Cyclists would need to be fit enough to manage the challenge of cycling approximately 550 miles over 6 days, with the ability to get back in the saddle each day!

The fantastic route starts at Guildford and the first day includes cycling part of the 2012 Olympic Road Race route from Shere to Box Hill, crossing the North Downs and riding through Windsor Park and the Chilterns. Then it’s on from Bedfordshire to Nottingham, before heading up through the countryside to the beautiful city of York. On day four we’ll cross the stunning North Yorkshire Moors and the Millennium Bridge to Newcastle, then some of the best climbs and descents take place on day five as we cross the Pennines and cycle over the Scottish border. The final day of cycling takes us from Dumfries to Glasgow where the team will enjoy a well earned celebration meal!

There will be many opportunities for team work and Ride2Raise, who are running the challenge for us, promote a strong pro-team experience throughout the ride.

As a charity, we would usually ask all our participants on this ride to raise a minimum sponsorship but because we are so close to the event taking place and we’ve not been able to fill our places, we would only be looking to cover the costs on this occasion. Is this something you think your club members might be interested in doing?

The costs for the challenge are £199 to register and £390 to cover accommodation in quality hotels, food and snack stops, support vehicles and staff for the event. You would also need to arrange your own transport home after the event. If any participants are able fundraise for Spinal Research and our pioneering work into transforming the lives of paralysed people, that would be wonderful, but at this stage, we are simply looking to ensure the charity does not loose money on this event. I am attaching the original brochure as this has details of the itinerary and the work we support.

If you think this is something that any of your riders would be interested in doing, we would be delighted to discuss this further. I will call to follow up with you shortly but if you have any questions in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to contact me on 01483 89 87 86 or email me at annaliese.clark@hotmail.com

Very best wishes,
