I agree with Mr G. The course and racing this year were interesting enough to be confused with the Giro.

Though in my mind, the Giro is still my favourite grand tour, if only for the audacity of including a "white road" stage each year.

Hate watching the mountain stages because of the idiots that gather there... Did think the riders should have scythes sticking out from their wheels but that'd be too heavy so thought about hubs that fire acid out when required...

Did see that I'm not the only one who can't stand those idiots (apart from some of the riders), the ones that run along the side - one runner got slapped by another spectator as he eased up. Lovely.

Bit of a quiet stage so far...

Happy days eh  Personally I love it - at least there's some atmosphere, and yeah there are a few who take it too far but it's all part of the tour. I mean - if riders like Contador are allowed to take part given his history the whole thing has a sense of farce about it any way, in my humble opinion.

I think it's been one of the more enjoyable tours. Epic stage wins from the likes of Thor, the sheer mental power of Voeckler hanging on to yellow for so long, the HTC machine doing its thing and Cadel smashing the Schlecks on the penultimate day. I liked the points competition changes and there was actual racing in the first week.

And Contador didn't win.

:?:

Definitely a well-deserved win for Cadel :D Good tour all round except for some of those crashes... Shame about Voeckler but he came over very well over it, throwing everything in to hang on to yellow for so long and then when it was obvious he wasn't going to stay in the lead, letting one of team mates go and have a go at winning a stage.

Cav too, thanking his team for getting him to the finish each time.

I liked the news that Geraint Thomas is going to ride for charity next Saturday - with his girlfriend on tandem 8)

I think back fondly, Amy, to the days when burly gendarmes on BMW mo'bikes with their twin cylinders sticking out each side, said cops wearing sturdy boots also sticking out, formed a great protection force. Clipped by one, you'd nurse a sore ankle for some time. Alas, no doubt ElfnSafety intruded ....

The crowds in the mountains is a tricky one. You get some idiots but you get idiots everywhere, not helped if they've been drinking in the sun for two days before the races arrives. You need the crowds for the atmosphere but when they are so big and crowded in so tight on the riders it impedes the racing by preventing a rider being able to make an attack as there's no room to get through.

No idea what the solution is, if there is one, you don't want the climbs barriered all the way up and it would be almost impossible to limit numbers going up and likely to create more trouble.

I think it's reality tv - they all seem to be wanting to be "seen"...

BUT it was still a good tour, almost to the wire (who remembers Lemond and Fignon and that final time trial in Paris...)

Good tour, still don't think it was one of the epic ones as some are saying. Really happy for Cadel to get the win, it looked like he really pushed himself to the limit in the Alpes and the TT (as did Andy and TV). I will be cheering for Andy next year if wiggo is doing the Olympics. Good rides from Sanchez (happy for the Euskaltel-Euskadi team) and also from Contador, his early crashes didn't help, nor did his team and maybe the Giro. Ithink he will be back next year and will be the one to beat.

Oh and well done Cav on getting the Green, time to leave the tour to others and try for some of the Classics?? Or is he going to try for the record of the number of stage wins?
