Floyd Landis Interview

Postby John G » Wed Jul 27, 2011 2:55 pm

I had to share this, great interview.

http://www.steephill.tv/players/720/yah ... 15&yr=2011

I have lots of time for this guy, one of the few to come out and speak the truth. He has been vilified in the media and in road cycling circles unfairly in my opinion.

Thanks

John

How do you know it's the truth, when everything up to the point he got caught doping was probably a lie? In what way is it a great interview? Is it because he heaps a load of accusations on LA? Yadda yadda yawn yawn.
So by that measure if somebody of impeccable trustworthiness spent an hour on TV stating that LA had absolutely and categorically not taken any PEDs at any time, ever, that would be a poor interview?
And of course would never happen as you cannot prove a negative.

If this snivelling little whiner is so contrite why doesn't he give all his winnings to a drug rehab centre and devote himself to supporting drugs free cycling?

And in what way was his vilification unfair? In my opinion it was, and is, completely justified.
He did a great interview in the Sunday Times too a couple of months ago, lots of background information. He's certainly an interesting character even though many sports fans find what he has to say very challenging. Funny thing is he has sparked a multi million dollar federal investigation thats had a reach across continents. If you enjoyed the tour this year and consider it to be an example of cleaner sport then you can thank Floyd for finally breaking the omerta that's dogged this sport for way too long and making the law makers sit up and listen when those with a vested interest wouldn't.

Exactly my thoughts! He get's so much grief, but the poor bloke has gone through hell and back (sounds like that when he talks)... It's only good for the sport in the long run. Now we need Armstrong to be open and honest! I agree with Floyd too when he say's Armstrong is a bully, I have heard this from other riders too! :o

Im not sure about the cleanliness of Andy Schleck's performance up the Galibier.

The Schleck's do have a suspect history

Your closest rival probably knows the best. What is Cadel Evans trying to say here
One of the harder days of this Tour.....thus far, by a long shot! A very strong effort by Andy Schleck and his Leopard crew; how they managed to take so much time in the valley from Briancon up to the Lauteret was a little mystifying. Four guys riding into a block headwind - who had already made an effort just get in the break and make time - is not usually a match for the combo of up to ten men behind with fresher legs. Work cohesion maybe? That would explain some of the teams Team Time Trial results. Compliments to Andy and Leopard for however they managed that.

Landis is a tool. He may have set the investigation in train but he's likely to send it careering into the buffers:

How much trust would you put in any of
Bjarne Riis riders past and present ?

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/02/sport ... 17063.html

He say's he doesn't like lying then goes on to say

He maintained that he was never aware of the doping practices of his peers. "I know people want me to say, but I don't know what the rider next to me did, how much or how little." Not his Telekom co-leader, Jan Ullrich, who retired last year after being implicated in the Operation Puerto scandal? "No - no way. And it didn't interest me. I only cared about my world

I probably shouldn't tar every rider with the same brush.

But a quick look through the notable riders - raises one or two questions
He wasn't called Mr Sixty Percent for nothing in his racing days (For those who weren't aware it was due to his Haematocrit count alleged to be at 60%). Another example of super doses of EPO turning a good one day rider into a TdF winner.

The stories that kept circulating about CSC recently were that they were using PFCs, a dangerous ped that allegedly nearly killed Mauro Gianetti. Whether its true or not only time will tell. But in the words of Jan Ullrich on this whole topic
I am not in a position to help those who still are unable to add one and one and to know what was going on in cycling"

Marco, you know your stuff geeza! Thanks for the links! :D
