Back at Bentley this afternoon for a 25, lovely sunny warm day with only the slightest of breeze on the course. Terrible traffic getting there though which meant getting the map out the seat pocket to reroute to avoid jams - M25 as something fell off a car and needed recovering and then the A3 where someone had broken down in the fast lane but managed to reroute and get there in time but quite a few arriving later than planned and running in to the HQ to grab numbers and sign on.

PVT passed me waiting at the start to go in to his second lap about 40 seconds before I was off. I set off up the road and gradually reeled him in and went passed him just after the first turn, was a bit surprised when he came back passed me shortly before the finish for him as he was pushing for the line. I passed the start for my second lap just as number 79 was starting and was surprised when he came passed me a bit later, but then I passed him, then he passed me again when he went mad on a little downhill bit, then I caught him and passed him again on the next drag and thankfully that was the last I saw of him playing silly buggers and chasing me to sprint by then die and so on. Bloody annoying and off putting too.

Around the turn again and back for home. I'd been going well and was on for a short 59 but was suffering a bit at the end as my mouth was sooooo dry and breathing was a bit harder. Drink had been just flowing through me in the morning so I wasn't hydrated enough at the start but pushed on to lose as little time as possible.

Lovely day for riding a bike and great to race in. Had a chat with Paul afterwards over tea at the HQ and also Rupert from Redhill who'd done a superb ride, finishing 2nd with a new PB of 51.09 smashing his old one and just missing their club record by 2 seconds. I don't doubt he'll get it soon. Event was won by Tejvan Pettinger with 50.46.

Addiscombe:

Terry Hill 1.04.30 :D , nice one super vet.
Paul Tunnell 1.00.05
Andrew Green 59.39

Cheers.

Good rides all. You could settle for a 59-45, Andrew, and give Paul those vital 6 seconds ...

Good work, chaps. It was certainly a good day to be out on a bike. I did a variation of the Wednesday route with Amy and Locky. Good fun, and a great slice of chocolate cake in Cake.

Almost perfect conditions today-although I`ve been doing a fair amount of riding this year haven`t done any specific tt training as such, so was a bit apprehensive as to how I was going to go on my first open event of the season.

Soon got up to speed as was trying to hold a reasonable cadence and felt pretty good, until the inevitable bad patch which generally happens just past the start of the second lap-saw Chris Scarlett disappear into the distance (who was No 40) so I knew it had taken me around 36min to complete 14.5 miles or so. Number 41 soon flew past with his fresh legs, so had to start to concentrate to avoid more embarrassment. Seem to get over my bad patch after the turn and started to turn a bigger gear to the finish.

To my amazement kept PVT and young Andrew at bay, which was pleasing- a new 3yr pb for me, which was even more pleasing. Must start some proper training and enter a couple more 25s.

1.04:30 for me
