Advice required on Brake Lever snapped on morning commute!

Postby John G » Thu Aug 04, 2011 11:58 am

Hi All,

I snapped my left brake lever on my regular commute into London this morning (luckily I am OK!)... straight into one of those annoying scooters!

Does anyone have a spare brake lever? or second hand one?

I have Ultegra, but happy with 105 or lower.

I spoke to Evans and they told me the best/cheapest option is probably Shimano 105 10 Speed Dual Control Levers for £149.99.

Any feedback/advice much appreciated,

Thanks

John

Check ebay, you see quite a few odd levers on there from when t'other has gone bang or been crashed on. Or if not then you may pick up an old pair for not a lot of cash.

Typical Evans advice. You could always do what a certain Mr Armstrong did on some of his bikes in the mountain stages - fit a standard brake lever and a downtube shifter for the front mech. Otherwise, as Andrew says, eBay is your best bet.
