Hi All,

I thought I would share the e-mail thread below re a bike building course in Jan 2012.

I asked for a group discount, but no joy!

Hi John

Thanks for getting in touch, great to hear that you found us on road.cc...

We will be opening our workshop in Frome, Somerset and will be giving courses from January 2012 (although will be taking pre-bookings in october as part of our crowd-funding attempt). We will be offering a 4 day course that would be ideal for someone in your position, and will be working with local b&b's to offer package deals at a considerable saving (£45/night (normally £65/night) 4 star bed and breakfast with bike storage less than 5 mins walk from the TBA workshop).

We won't be running courses in other locations just yet, though may well open up more Bicycle Academy workshops in some other locations in the future.

The courses themselves will be priced at between £500 and £600 per person based upon 2 students being taught, over 2 hrs (just trying to sort out VAT.

I hope that I have answered your questions, please let me know if not :)

Have you been able to complete our short questionnaire? : http://www.thebicycleacademy.org/questionnaire/ it would be really useful of you if you could and perhaps pass it onto the club members that you mentioned, and complete it yourself.

Cheers

Andrew Denham

Hi Andrew,

I hope this e-mail finds you well.

Just a quick few lines with respect to the bike building course. I came across your details on road.cc and am interested in building my own bike!

I note you are based in Somerset though!

Is that where the course is run?

Have you any plans to possible run a course in London? (I live in South Croydon) and would you run a course for a club? (maybe bulk discounted rate? I ride with Addiscombe CC)

Finally, what is the standard price for this course?

Thank you for your patience with my questions! :D

And I look forward to your reply,

Best Regards,

John Gargan

unless they include wheel building and frame making, most info for building bikes can be found on the internet, by building I mean putting together all the pieces. I managed to do it for all my bikes (though did get the LBS to do the headset).
