Took the alvo off work to drive up to East Henningfield in Essex with Jon for my last spoco event for this season. Wasn't sure how the legs would be as the day before i had to give Palace a miss due to very tired legs after the 2 TT's on the weekend and 2 days of digging and loading skips!.
The course is new in the Spoco series which involved 4 laps through a village round the edge of a resevoir on nice quite rolling lanes then over a nasty drag on the A120,fairly technical and rolling. On the 2 mile ride out to the start all my worries disappeared as the legs felt much better than the day before
On to the course and the laps flew by, this is one of the best courses i have done this season, the obvious head wind was there in places as always but apart from that good conditions for a TT
To my surprise i came 1st! and the only one on the day to go under the hour on this sporting course. Ok it was a small field and the faster spoco guys were not present but you can only beat who turns up!
Really chuffed with this as it gives me the full 120 points towards my final total score in the series but most of all i felt really good on the day and enjoyed the pain and the ride.
Nice low key friendly event run by Essex RC (i think) would recommend this for the course but not to get a 25 PB..... Unlike the hilly 50 up and down the A20 on sun you had a bit more to think about such as cornering, sprinting out of the corners etc, doesn't sound like much but compared to a DC 50
My time was 59.11 i think-only one under the hour- and course record holder
Nick Hassler was 2nd with a long 1.0 something (must remember to write the results down as sometimes i don't see the results for days)
Very well done to Jon,can't remember Jon's time but he was a very solid 11th place
