Stolen Bike

Boardman road bike stolen from a Redhill CC rider over the weekend in Merstham.

Can you please keep an eye out for this bike just in case. Also stay vigilant as it would appear that this poor cyclist from Redhill had his home targeted specifically to steal his bike. See below.

One picture shows the bike before I put the wheels and various other pieces of kit on. I have included the other, where it is seen on its wall bracket ( locked,
when stored - glad I took this, it's really a just in case, for insurance purposes ) because in it you
can see the Mavic wheels and the yellow tape detail on the end of the bars- a distinctive detail that is not standard.

As the spec as of yesterday was different to that in the pictures and very much non-standard
I've listed below these other items that I added during 2011 ;
- Mavic Kysrium SL wheels
- Ritchley carbon stem & seatpost
- Dura-Ace carbon composite SPD-SL pedals
- Selle Italia Carbonia full carbon saddle (2011 spec with '115g' decal)
- Elite carbon bottle cages
- Garmin speed & cadence sensor

I'm not confident I'll ever see it again but its always worth making the effort to raise awareness both of the crime itself and the spec of the bike, as much in the hope of catching the theif as anything.

The police have suggested that they believe I have been targetted specifically for the bike. The theif came into my garage while I was in (car on drive, windows & internal door) and took only that item.

Thanks for your help.

I had my MTB stolen a couple of months ago. It was stolen in Islington. I reported it and gave police the frame number. The police recovered the bike two weeks after it was stolen.

My garage was also targeted soon after the MTB was stolen. We were told by neighbour from across the road that a couple of guys were fiddling with the garage door around 9am one day. We called the police in the evening. Whilst police were taking statement from the neighbour across the road, the thieves came back (around 7pm) but the police arrested them.

I think the thieves were done for attempt of robbery so I doubt they got any serious sentence unfortunately.

Anyway, if the Redhill rider has frame number, it might be worth giving it to the police. There were a few operations in the City recently where police was cracking down on bike thieves.

Good luck!

I will keep an eye out on my regular commute into London and general riding, although Boardman bikes are a dime a dozen now... Hope he has luck getting it back or in worst case, the insurance pays up!
