Addiscombe 10 3rd Sept

Postby Andrew G » Sat Sep 03, 2011 5:09 pm

Thanks to Jon and his team of helpers, lots of friendly faces on course.

Lovely sunny day but a bit of a head wind on the out leg. As usual I struggled with an afternoon start but not too bad. Not as fast as I wanted but probably the same situation for most today. 23.56 for me, felt hard on the way out but not so shabby coming back.

Rupert Burbidge continued his good season to win and George came 4th, John G took a big lump off his PB so well done John, and to Ghaleb who rode George's training bike complete with mudguards.

Thanks Team Addiscombe :D .

Thanks to all the organizers, helpers, and to George for lending me his bike.

I enjoyed today, but as Andrew said the head wind made the first split hard and I struggled a bit in the beginning......the 2nd split felt much faster... I wonder what was my split time. I ended up doing it in 26.13

I should be getting my new frame next week :D ...so will be back on the road soon and ready to face the 4 up TT challenge next sat. :D

Heroic ride Ghaleb - although do mudguards count as fairings?

I've got a bunch of pieces of paper from my pocket with all the times scrawled on but best to wait for the official results. Although No. 40 with 21:01 was the winner by a fair margin.

We headed straight home from the finish as Tom didn't fancy the extra 6 miles (on the A24).

Fairings but not helpful ones, I think you should add a rack next time too :D .

PVT took splits at the turn where he was checker, mine was 13.00 to the exit of the turn so 10.56 for the return trip. Rupert (no.40) did the return leg in 9.30something!

Nice to see Frank (Cubis, timekeeper) spinning back home on his fixed afterwards. Amazing chap, nice as you like and rides out with his timekeeping stuff in his pannier often on fixed.

A good day out the Southdown Bikes team; 2nd, 3rd, 1st Lady, and fastest team.

Not too shabby for the home team with George in 4th and Steve 1st in the V50-59 category on vets standards.

Thanks for all the helpers; I couldn't do it without you.

Felt really strong in the windy conditions, really gave it everything and averaged only 5 beats down from my max HR
Really could have done with a 56 chainring on the way back though as twice I had to freewheel with the speed.

Thanks for helping everyone!!! as one or two of the riders really mentioned to me how well the event was run and Marshalled :D
