Vuelta (spoilers)

Postby Phil H » Sat Sep 03, 2011 11:08 pm

I have to say, I have seen some impressive things in cycling but on that final climb today a real example of unexpected excellence on the final climb. Did you see that tarmac? New, black, smooth as. The guys who put that down deserve a (hard) chapeau.

I don't think I've seen runways that smooth.

Wow. That looked nasty. Brad & Froome fighting hard but Como just looking so strong. Difficult to see where either of them could get it back.

Good stage.

It is steep, when the pros fit 34/28 gearing expect pain.

Sky are in the box seats. 2 riders within a minute of Como, easy pickings. Como will have to follow any attack containing Froome or Wiggins. All they have to do is play the waiting game and wear Como and his team out. The old one two a few times will do the trick. Could be an interesting few days.

Hey, I made it up a 30% the other day on a 34/25. OK, it was a bit shorter though .....

Cobo was magnificent - Wiggo had the wrong gear. I'm with you, Ant. There is still hope if Sky can get it right.

BTW A great Vuelta - every stage has had something.

Sky will be lucky to get that time back. All the spanish teams will make sure of that.

They shouldnt have let Froome give up his lead after the TT and he would still be in the lead.

Froome was absolutely awesome today. Shame that there are no more uphill finishes to attack on.

Just watched the highlights. Fantastic stuff. For a minute I thought Cobo had completely cracked.

Can Froome sprint at all?
