SCCU 25 4th Sept

Up at 5am and struck by a huge dose of CBA, still, up now so best go and say hello to folk anyway.

Just Ian and I down for this but he was a DNS as warned yesterday, getting over a bug, so only me for Addiscombe. Chatting to a few at the HQ and it seemed there were a few of us with the end of season CBA virus this morning.

Didn't really bother with a warm up and just rode to the start, then set off. I felt like I was just going through the motions and wasn't really concentrating on the matter in hand. Continued to drift along and was surprised to see the average speed wasn't as poor as I thought it would be due to the reasonable conditions.

Turned for Southwater and had to fight hard not to just turn in to the HQ but managed to keep going straight on. Only 9 miles left so as conditions rather than my good self had kept the average speed somewhere reasonable I put some effort in and actually concentrated on what I was doing until the finish. Kept the speed up and powered up the drags to rescue a 1.02.19 from the morning. Good conditions so a shame I was in a funny mood or I could have got a good time from the day.

I left before the end so don't know the results but it showed a mix of good times from those that had turned up with their brains and others a couple of minutes slower from those of us suffering from end of season CBA. James from the Bec was a similar sufferer and we compared notes and since the 24 had both had a funny mix of results and feelings at races. It would seem that it (along with the training) was a bit of a mental fry more than we realised.

Just a couple of 25s left for me this season which I probably wouldn't bother with, except their on unfamiliar and slower courses so I'll just ride them for fun and see what happens.

I wondered if this would happen to you guys that did the 24. I felt great after the Outlaw but got really down about things after and am only just getting my mojo back so to speak.

well done Andrew and finishing the event, I feel I have a couple more races left before I CBA
I was gonna ride down and cheer you on but pulled the duvet up and had a great ride with Dels Sunday group, which got a little wet towards the end, unfortunately saw the aftermath of a very nasty bicycle accident as police had taped off the sharp corner at the bottom of Fanny's hill and were taking photo's, at least 3 police vehicles in attendance, must have been a sportive rider who lost control on the wet decent and crashed into some trees, I do hope its not a fatality :( :(

Sounds nasty if the Police had the tape and cameras out.

Your right Dominic and it shouldn't be a surprise really. I've had some good races since the 24 so the strength from the event has come to the fore on occasions, but then I've also done a couple of ropey events and a couple where I've done average, but felt like I had to put a lot more in to it.
