Correct. Merckx 1969 won yellow, green and polka dot. Had there been a white jersey competition he would've won that too.

Yep, I don't think they have a rider who can win the TdF yet.
Re DK's cat and mouse quote I don't think Gesink or VdB can win it either.
Mind you there's more time trialling than normal next year with two decent length ones so probably the best chance Froome or Wiggins will have, and equally working against Gesink and VdB. Depend how Evans and Contador turn up. Outside bet may be Menchov who can do a reasonable TT when he stays on his bike, climbs well, and won't have too many big descents to lose fist fulls of time on as he's lost his bottle since his run of crashes a couple of years ago.
