I'd quite like an Addiscombe hoodie ( )
Be nice to have one to wear pre/ post race (instead of my SLH or Human Race one's), especially on those early morning TT's.

Just a thought :D

Perhaps a poll on another thread could be created?

The plan is in motion. Your committee have selected two kits to go forward to a vote at the AGM.

All (paid up) members are invited to the AGM, and will each have a vote on what will be the future kit of the ACC.

I would first like to see the club's articles of association in relation to voting - are they available - can proxy votes be given??. I do not think AGM voting or internet polls are at all democratic since both exclude voters because they relatively inaccessible opportunities for expressions of preference. Only a postal vote would be acceptable. As I have said before there is really no need for voting since the properly assembled committee can and should take decisions on behalf if the membership, otherwise what is the point of the committee? This is hardly the equivalent of the Maastricht Treaty. AGMs are generally for rule changes and election of officers.

Alan, you have had your say on this several times.

The committee decided that it was the best way to address the situation. A vote at the AGM is the most accessible to the most members, and will avoid the potential situation where the committee make a (very visible) decision only to have people say they did not agree and felt they had not had a say. It is not ideal, but it was thought to be the best way in the circumstances.

Can't wait for the new kit to be chosen so that we can close this thread.

Although I'm sure another will start exclaiming that the wrong choice was made and "I wasn't consulted" :|

Last time I looked having one's say even more than once was a democratic fundamental. Grahame - I seem to recollect you led a committee's working group on this many months ago - did anything come of it?

That was two years ago, Alan, and the decision that was reached at that time was to leave the kit and supply chain as it was. The decision was reported back to, and approved by the committee.

The issue came up again a few months ago, and some new designs proposed. The committee narrowed these proposals down to two that will be put to the membership. The question then was "how to get the membership involved in the decision?" The forum is only used by a small proportion of the membership, so the AGM was considered to be the most open, appropriate way to put the new kit decision to the vote, and to allow the decision and new design to be sent to British Cycling in time for their deadline to register racing kit for the 2012 season.

The proposal is to leave the supply chain the same - i.e. we will provide the selected new kit design to Santini to produce, and it will be supplied via GB Cycles.

Oh, and it's hardly back in the long grass, is it? It is an agenda item on the AGM, which will be on 7th December. All members will be invited to attend.

My issue is not with you having a say, but with the negative, sniping language used, and the inference that we are not dealing with the issue. The committee is trying to deal with a difficult and potentially divisive issue in the best way for the club as a whole.

Why not hold a poll at CSS over a period of 4 saturdays. More club members there than you'll ever get at the AGM. As each group is about to set off, show them the options and just have a quick count of hands. Can't be that difficult even for us.

Three reasons:
1 - the decision of how to do it has been taken.

2 - there's no guarantee that everybody at CSS is a paid up member.

3 - Holding the vote over 4 weeks would mean some people having more than 1 vote, up to 4 votes in fact.

So just do it over one week, does it really matter if the odd non paid up member slips through the net and gets a vote, hardly crime of the century. Why can't this be done before the AGM and the results put before the committee to give a wider representation of what people think and want. Nothings set in stone, its a cycling club, not the house of parliament. Surely the vote of the majority should count and putting it out to the largest audience and giving them the option to vote makes more sense.

You never know, we might get the largest turn out at an AGM since I don't know when
