That was two years ago, Alan, and the decision that was reached at that time was to leave the kit and supply chain as it was. The decision was reported back to, and approved by the committee.
The issue came up again a few months ago, and some new designs proposed. The committee narrowed these proposals down to two that will be put to the membership. The question then was "how to get the membership involved in the decision?" The forum is only used by a small proportion of the membership, so the AGM was considered to be the most open, appropriate way to put the new kit decision to the vote, and to allow the decision and new design to be sent to British Cycling in time for their deadline to register racing kit for the 2012 season.
The proposal is to leave the supply chain the same - i.e. we will provide the selected new kit design to Santini to produce, and it will be supplied via GB Cycles.
Oh, and it's hardly back in the long grass, is it? It is an agenda item on the AGM, which will be on 7th December. All members will be invited to attend.
My issue is not with you having a say, but with the negative, sniping language used, and the inference that we are not dealing with the issue. The committee is trying to deal with a difficult and potentially divisive issue in the best way for the club as a whole.
