ACC Subs now due

Postby Tim Coales » Fri Nov 04, 2011 2:31 am

As we enter November, month of bonfires, firework displays, Lord Mayor's Show, Veteran Car Run, ACC Cyclo-Cross promotion etc...

IT IS TIME TO RENEW YOUR ACC MEMBERSHIP :D

Subscription is now £25 (by cash or cheque) £24 (by Standing Order), for full senior members and runs from 1st Nov 2011 to 31st Oct 2012.
Please note this is a £5 increase on the previous 10 years. :(
If you didn't increase your S/O, please cough up the extra £5 to our treasurer, Phil Nash.
If you don't pay by S/O why not set one up and avoid the hassle of writing cheques or handling the cash (and get a £1 discount)? Hopefully it won't increase for another 10 years if everyone pays up! :D

Once Phil has produced the new membership cards, we'll have a "hand out day" on the clubrun. There's a brand spanking new
FREEBIE ACC BOTTLE for every paid up member too. :D :D

YOUR SUBS keep YOUR CLUB going - meeting hall hire, TT and RR league affiliations, Trophy engraving, Website & Forum hosting, race numbers, marshalling bibs, course signs, The President's Wages (joke) all have to be paid for. This year we invested money in First Aid training for 10 clubrun VCs. Lots of people give lots of time to keep this club running, the least you can do is to pay promptly!

Also, when you fulfill an official ACC marshalling or support role (that means by volunteering to assist before hand, not just rolling up unexpected on the day!) you will be reimbursed £5 per event. Help enough and you could earn your subs back :!:

The official Addiscombe CC website says it's £20.

Anyone know if the rest of the memberships (other that full adult membership) have changed?

Isn't it £19 by direct debit? I've just paid mine at £19. Pain in the backside. Why wan't this advertised better earlier in the year?

I'll leave mine as it is as I'm still owed money for marshalling duties from this year and from last.

It'll be £24 by direct debit. I understand that this was agreed at last year's AGM and we were given a year to sort it out. Marshall and you get your money back - well that's the idea. Like, Ant, I'm owed marshalling for the last two years!

I'm in the same boat as Dan & you. I checked on the website (because I sort of remembered something) a few weeks before it was due and saw it was still £19. I did find out it had changed but not in enough time to change the standing order.

I am owed at least one marshalling fee, but poor Phil N has to somehow pull this back together and work out who's paid what - for one of my fees I know the club hasn't got it, the organiser has.

I'm not sure what the simplest way is to sort this out - or, in fact, what the scale of the problem is. I have no idea how many pay by standing order or how many haven't amended it (all of them I'd guess given that you'd have to have been a) at the AGM, b) paying attention and c) remember it spontaneously 11 months later).

To be pedantic, the rule was changed at the agm two years ago, and implementation deferred for a year. So you've had nearly 2 years to prepare.

If we're playing the "I'm owed for marshalling, so I'm not paying" I think I can probably beat most of you. I'm owed £30 for the marshals I paid for helping at the Beastway promotion in 2010 (all the marshalls for our 2011 promotion said they would waive the £5), but that's my fault for not asking Phil for the moolah  .

I assume "you" is the person who puts the rates on the website. Which is where I went to look it up when I changed my standing order to add Tom's membership back in June....

Anyway, although it's clearly marco's fault, this is not a blame culture. That wouldn't be helpful. Playing the "owed for marshalling" card is not helpful either as it's impossible to reconcile. What I'd like to be sure of though (and only Phil N can answer this I suspect) is that if I pop another fiver through electronically, will my account be considered all settled? I'd also like official confirmation that:
a) Kids are still £10
b) Seniors are £24 if you pay by standing order

Then I'll pop through the extra fiver and amend the SO for next year.

Actually, the "you" I meant was the membership. I'm not into blame, etc. and will defend the web guys - until very recently it was necessary to keep the old membership fee structure up on the site for those whose first membership fee would be for 2011.

Re the marshalling fiver...

...an event organiser has a lot to do particularly on the day of the event. It is the marshals responsibility to go back to the HQ afterwards and collect their fiver, if they don't then it is deemed to be donated to the club. Tracking down all helpers afterwards or mailing out a load of cheques isn't practical.

At the 25 I organised I had the cash ready at HQ in envelopes and handed it out to helpers when they came back to hand in their high-viz bibs. Some were kind enough to refuse payment. Paul also did this at the road race as he had the envelopes on the desk where he was doing the results.

If you return to HQ to collect your fiver then do bear in mind that if the organiser is in the middle of doing the results then it's not appreciated someone bugging them for a fiver when they are trying to concentrate. Fortunately with the 25 the results are phoned in on an as they finish in blocks basis so I had a bit of a gap to hand out the cash before the final results came in and I had to concentrate on the final results.

I've now modified the membership page on the website to reflect the new subscription.

http://www.addiscombe.org/membership/

Obviously this could not be changed until the beginning of the new ACC year!

I've now also had time to produce the new membership form and standing order form for Marco to upload, when he has time.

Cheers,

Phil.

Phil,

I owe you a fiver. The standing order had already been paid at the previous rate.

As Phil the Pie asked earlier, is it ok if I transfer the £5 electronically, or shall I pay you when I next see you?

When we collect our new membership card and, at the same time, new classy free-to-paid-up-members ACC water bottle we can pay the fiver we owe. Simple. :D :D :D :D :D :D
