I hope they've booked a big enough room for the AGM.

Not as far as I know - I have been to some committee meetings to talk about the sportive but I was not to my knowledge invited onto the committee and have never agreed to be a committee member - I think I would remember if I had.

[quote="Andrew G"]Er, you are a committee member Alan.

But Graham, to my knowledge I am not a member of the committee, but i am always happy to share my views on club matters that interest me and I am quite comfortable if you construe them as 'sniping' although I think it is perhaps a little unkind.

[quote="Grahame"][quote="Alan M"]If the final decision is is to stick with the existing then it is kicked into touch - no? It beggars belief that the committee could have wasted so much time in discussion for this to be the outcome, frankly I despair!

[quote="Phil the Pie"]I'm not quite sure what you mean by "kicked it into touch". The committee took an initial set of designs and (using AV if you're interested) whittled it down to 2. There will be a vote at the AGM on the 7th December and that will decide which of the two new designs to adopt (or whether to stick with the existing). Once that's settled then it'll be ordered and should be available in GBs early next year.

If the decision at the AGM were to be "no change", then that would be an active decision of the membership. In no way would it be "kicking it into touch."

Like Andrew, I understand that the decision has been made (by the committee) to change the kit. The committee could not choose between the two most popular designs (there was a poll of committee members, the two most popular designs were separated by 1 vote - not enough to make such a decision on behalf of the whole club) so decided to ask the membership to make the decision in the best (or least bad) way available and practical. This was felt to be a vote "Option A or Option B" at the AGM.

Perhaps you could have made a difference to the decision if you'd bothered to come to the committee meeting, Alan? The date of the meeting was known for 10 months in advance.

The decisions have been made by the committee, now help drive the club forward and stop sniping.

As a promoter of an open event (ie the sportive), you are a member of the committee.

I don't think I am a member of anything unless I join, except perhaps humanity and some even doubt that!

I think I've taken some of the pressure off on that score, Alan, sitting as I do somewhere between Pol Pot and the spawn of Fred Goodwin and Richard Littlejohn

Quite possibly Rachel - I find I forget to whom I owe money and when to clean the bathroom but I'm quite good on remembering causes and allegiances - As Matthew Arnold said I am the home of lost causes, and forsaken beliefs, and unpopular names, and impossible loyalties!

Alan, weren't you a school teacher or something in your distant past, am sure you have been called worse than a 'committee member', in fact, I would have thought your pupils may have just omitted the word committee. :D

Cheers

[quote="marco"]All this just reminded me of when we had 3 different jerseys in the same junior team in the Clarencourt 4-up in 1989

Probably due to financial constraints, I think we got whatever was in the bottom of the box for cheap.

Very Interesting 'Head Gear' - what was it in those day's?, and who's the Adonis on the far left? :D Looky familiar to me :D

I come into this late and admit to not having read the whole thread but when is the AGM to vote on this kit!

We need to sort this ASAP :!: :!: :!:

.... been holding out on getting the kit since I joined the club!

Either we have a club vote at the AGM or someone makes an "Executive decision"! simples :!: :!:
