6.30am start, followed by social breakfast after the event !

P.S anyone riding the event should,
a) enter early to avoid disappointment
b) in the case where you have not marshalled before, ask a nearest or dearest who is coming along, to marshall and they can see up close what you get up to ! They too will qualify for free brunch.

Hmmm

What's this course like, is it all downhill by any chance?

I ask only because I am tempted to relaunch my once glittering TT career (only previous attempt 18 Sept 2004 Arthur Rayner 10 miler, pissing rain 29.26) but I have no idea of what one might consider an acceptable time for 25 miles? I was thinking maybe 1 or 2 days? :shock:

Maria - I take it that I should register with you if I am daft enough to have a crack at this?

Just think folks - all first timers could enter this completely safe in the knowledge that you won't be the lanterne rouge!

Some info for those thinking of riding in this event;

The course is all dual carriageway, flatish with some drags. It covers the bit of DC used on the clubrun for through and off practice, so it's mostly like that. It's the fastest local 25 course - the 2004 national championship was held on this course and was won in 48:44 by Stuart Dangerfield, which ain't exactly hanging around!

Entries on a standard CTT entry form to Maria, by the closing date of 18th April. The form can be downloaded from the [url=http://www.ctt.org.uk/]CTT website[/url]. Or if you ask nicely I'll email you a copy.

Anyone wanting to do a trial run can also enter the SCCU 25 on the same course a week beforehand.

And finally, people might not be aware that there is a club trophy for the fastest 25 of the year done by a novice.

Maria - You should by now have my entry form for this one. I'll bring a contribution to the brunch, if that helps - home-made malt loaf is my current favourite.

Others - If anyone (riding or helping) needs a lift, I can probably help out. Numbers will depend on the exact combination of bikes and people.

Sorry to trouble y'all - I've found the entry fee cost (Â£6) on the CTT site. Do I make the chq out to CTT and does anyone know where I send it to...? I've made enquiries via other sources but I ain't getting anywhere.

Yes - insanity brought on by old age has got the better of me - I'm going to have a crack at this!!

Thanks Sylv (received your apology), Jon (for clarifying course details) and Richard (for sending my details to Snoop), and Mike (for the Malt Loaf) !

For those wanting to ride the event, you need to accompany your form with a cheque for Â£6, made payable to Addiscombe Cycling Club. Organisers' addresses are not currently available on the Cycling Time Trials website. You therefore have to obtain it from the CTT handbook.
Failing that, PM/email me and I will give you my address.

We have got a number of ACC members riding this event, which is good and will really showcase our club riders on the day.

Thanks to all those who have offered to help out. We still need more people to help out. This can showcase our club even more on the day, and also ensure that the riders get the security and the support to run a smooth event.

If you have not marshalled before, come along and put something back into the sport. For your efforts, you get brunch and there's a social afterwards.
If you have not marshalled before, but you are racing, then bring along a family member/friend who can marshall.

Is anyone thinking of cycling out to the 25? Most of the route should be the usual CR bt the looks of it.

Will just have to prise myself out of bed at silly o' clock

Marco, your post reminded me of back in the mid 50's before I was a teenager, when I would have the job of towing out club members, before daybreak, to get them down to Crawley so they could compete in time trials. Then after breakfast to tow those taking part in massed start events up into Buckinghamshire. After the race, back to towing duties to get them home to Croydon arriving in the dark. A long but wonderful days cycling.
