At last night's AGM, the club membership overwhelmingly voted to change the official club kit.

In the subsequent second vote, the 2e jerseys with the black sleeves (the prototype currently worn by some members of the club) was chosen over the 2d jersey with the yellow sleeves.

Great to be involved in the AGM and vote on the kit.

Anyone know how soon the new kit will be available at GB Cycles?

Thanks

John
Hey,

Given how long the process takes maybe the committee should consider making plans the replace the old club kit formerly known as the new club kit.

Well volunteered, Sean.

We look forward to reading your report at the next committee meeting (mid January).

I didn't vote but I do now. Can we close this thread and only restart it if further issues arise?

Hey now I find myself reminiscing those posts of April 2009 - ENOUGH!
I have been heard saying that I am not sure about the current design - For my taste it is a little overstated and 90s. I think 5 years is a goodish shelf life before we consider presenting an updated and new image to the cycling public. I am not sure about the complaints of it potentially making existing kit redundant. I think people will replace kit on the basis of it being worn out or wanting to change for aesthetic or fashion reasons. In general it seems to me that jeans apart very few articles of clothing reach the point where they are no longer wearable - people expect to change styles and discard the out of date; so why should cycling attire be any different? Old kit can of course continue to be worn and may in time achieve a retro status. I have never found the Santani shorts very hard wearing or comfortable and I think I agree with the thrust towards 'retro chic' and the club's illustrious past - perhaps with more black than yellow in the design and a little less garish, dare I say 'cool'. I think my family would appreciate a slightly less illuminated version of me over the breakfast coffee!

I have to say that I have never received a compliment on the design of the kit but I suppose that it is noticeable and distinctive. Clearly design and taste is is somewhat subjective but it is not entirely illogical that over time, what once seemed the very fashionable will eventually begin to appear dated, and so in my view it is worthwhile considering a change and commissioning the production some design alternatives. This would all be marketable as an image of a fresh thinking and open-to-change organisation and ultimately would underscore our other successes and make us more attractive to new members. BTW I am not in favour of a plebiscite on this - it is too divisive and negates the reason for having a committee. So committee, I would however formally propose that it be considered at the next meeting so if someone can tell me who is the secretary and how it can get on the agenda for discussion I believe this is logically the next stage.

Is there going to be a list of the kit (gloves, cap, socks, winter jacket etc) and any pix of what they will look like?
