What time is "after work" for people?

I finish at 5.30pm (in Croydon) so am thinking about calling in for a swift half if anyone else is around at that time?

Well, I'd get there at around 5:10

Not sure what time I'll be there, probably around 8 so try to still be a bit sober by then Phil / Dan :) .

Looking at the weather forecast it may be a hoof it in on the MTB tomorrow to play safe on knowing I can get in and out regardless of what silly games the trains and/or weather may play.

I've just bought a pair studded tyres a la Dombo - hopefully they'll fit on the tourer :D

May need assistance getting them on as I bet they are b*ggers...

Well due to comfy matress syndrome I overslept so the MTB remained garaged, on the plus side I'll get to the pub sooner.

Thanks, Graham - only I may have problems getting to you if it gets to the point where I do need them!! You know what the trains are like at the first flake of snow

Is that comfy mattress syndrome coupled with the "I'm not going out in that" syndrome"? Did not look fun riding on a bike this morning

No, would have been okay riding in on the MTB. It's harder work but means I can always get in and out regardless of the weather/trains. Fortunately it appears to have been the usual over-blown hype about a new ice age when it was just a bit of wet snow on a rain soaked road.

I'd be tempted to put them on a spare pair of wheels, so they are ready if/when you need them. The winter tyres for Josie's car "live" on a set of steel wheels ready to fit in the late autumn, and swap back to the alloys with summer tyres in the spring. I do the same with the cross tyres for my Cyclocross/winter road/commuting/touring/shopping bike.

Very good but a) this contradicts your sexism thread and b) has little to do with drinks.

PS The Pride is fine here

I keep my beer in a pint glass and the wine (for the ladies   ) in wine glasses.

Sorry, Phil  but I don't think it contradicts sexism in cycling - you only have to look at the top riders in track to see the physical difference between men and women (apart from the obvious bits  ). Us women lack the physical build to grow particularly large muscle though we may have higher strength to weight ratio - and I certainly don't have much strength at the moment. I may know how to use the tools but sometimes I'm defeated by the lack of strength to do things up to the tort required (had a slipping seat post/tipping seat for a bit - used male muscle to solve that) or to shove tyres on (even using the Var tyre levers). Also I am not very mechanical though I'll give things a go - taking apart is easy (unless a bloke has done something up so tight...) but putting it back together...

Oh well, looks like I'm looking for a spare set of wheels for the tourer then :D

Oh yeah. Drinks. Were ok. Food was a bit on the cold side but I was too much in need of it to send it back. Shame your boss was there, Dan K
