Tub fitting tips

Postby Ivor » Sat Mar 03, 2012 7:25 pm

So.... removed old tubs, cleaned glue off rims.
Have new Vittorias, Tufo tape and an old pencil ready to fit back on, do I need to prepare the inside of the new tyres? and if so what do I do?
For gluing I saw instructions saying to rub down the inner to expose the fabric and then prepare with a layer of glue.

Nah just stick the tape on and peel a bit of the backing back. Shove the tub on and put a bit of air in and then just rip the backing tape off. With the Tufo tape you don't need the pencil as the backing film is strong, only need that for Jantex fabric tape with the paper backing.

Takes seconds to fit a tub with Tufo tape and it's sticks like s*** to a blanket so make sure you have the tub straight before pulling the backing clear.

Have you stretched the new tubs to make them easier to put on?
