Dunsfold 3rd cats

Dan G and I raced the Kingston Wheelers Surrey League road race this morning. It was a superbly organised event and had a full entry, they even own their own race aids such as race radios signage and Cycle race magnetic flashing lights :D

Was a pretty fast race and was all over in 2hours and 10 mins, Dan had a little spell off the front after 2 or so laps, I just waited until around half distance before making a move. A few breaks went up the road but none were out of sight. Then with 4 to go a break of 5 were 30 seconds up the road so I bridged across in half a lap taking one, VC Mueden for a tow. When we bridged we started the through and off and were soon out of sight of the bunch.

The only real strong riders in the break was Rob Pelham from Lewes Wanderers and myself we were doing the lions share of the work with the other not pulling their weight.
Eventually another 10 more riders bridged to us and a better rotation was made but we weren't making any ground and the peloton was catching us up.
So repeatedly I attacked off the front 5 or six times from this break but this time didn;'t manage to get away.
The last lap it was all one group, I tried again 2 or 3 times to escape but was wound back in and it finished in a bunch sprint which Dan and I did not contest.

Good fun race for me but Dan was not too happy after complaining of a bad back and no legs for the last 2 laps.

Nice to hear about you dishing out the pain George, 8-10 attacks! And with Rob two powerful testers doing the work, sure the others were just trying to hang on for grim death rather than sitting on  .
