SCCU Sporting 10 & 25

This afternoon was the first of the Southern Counties Sporting Weekend with the 25 tomorrow, some Addiscombe doing just today, some just tomorrow and some both.

A beautiful day for it and great organisation as ever from Robin Johnson. The course has a small country lane loop with a roll or two and then a drop down to the A29, bit of a drag up here in to a slight headwind to Ockley and then left back in to the country lanes. A kick up climb and a few digs but the resurfaced section along here made it a joy.

A test today to see how the aches were and by and large okay but I couldn't push as hard as I wanted in a couple of places and my shoulder's a bit sore so have phoned my apologies to Robin that I'll be a DNS tomorrow to rest it.

Good to see so many ACC out and chat with many friends from other clubs again as the racing season starts.

Nice ride for me,joint 7th and 30 secs quicker than last year weather was good last time slightly cooler with a slight breeze but lovely and warm with a slight breeze this time round

That didn't go so well! first time trial for two years, minor navigation issues in the morning meant getting to the HQ, picking up number shooting off to a bit closer to the start, whipping bike out of car banging on wheels and riding to the line.
didn't have time to make any checks to bike, test ride or warm up.
arrived as my minute man rolled up to the line and off.....

horrific. I cant be this far off form.
seemed like a battle all the way around, felt like I was riding uphill for the entire course.

and over the line. pulled up. and discovered that my front brake had been dragging on for the whole ride. and my seat post had slipped. disorganised and out of practice, how embarrassing.

oh well. Bletchingly sporting next weekend.

I thought your time looked a bit slow Ivor, you may not have been testing lately but when I bumped in to you the other day the ultra marathons certainly didn't seem to have harmed your fitness. Have fun on Bletchingley next week, if it feels like your riding up hill all the time there it's because you are more or less .

Not sure what happened, it seemed they were having trouble finding his time in the HQ.

Perhaps the timekeeper was dazzled/distracted when he saw the new ACC kit and he forgot he was supposed to be writing down the time.
