Thanks to everyone today, the helpers were heroes and I really appreciate it as do the riders. Truely horrendous conditions, about as bad as you can get, any worse and I'd have had to cancel it.

Well done to all that raced and finished and the marshals.

As a matter of interest as I am not au fait with such things, how bad does it have to be to cancel an event? Is it standing water causing spray, wind and rain or a combination of all factors?

Organiser's decision Dom on whether they think it is safe. Normally spray, standing water or combination. This course doesn't get much spray but if standing water was causing rider's to have to move out of lane dangerously han I'd have cancelled.

There was really only one patch of surface water that forced us to near the centre of the white line but handily there was a marshal in a car there to oversee it which was a good decision! :D
I found it not as tough as I first though, the hardest bit for me was the leg back from Southwater and especially the finish half mile as there was a block headwind gusting so we were blown around the lane towards the flag.

That was character building this morning. There are some photos here, hopefully they give an idea of what it was like. Sorry I missed all the Addiscombe riders today, I didn't take the camera out until near the end when it cleared up a little.

Andrew, is this the winner ? He was going at a pace when he passed me.

Great photos Aodan. Yes that is Rich the winner, he does shift doesn't he :D . Would you mind if I linked to your photos in the TT Forum?

I have received a couple of emails this evening which I would like to pass on to all the helpers, thank you once again.

A big ‘Thank you’ to you and all your team of helpers for promoting todays event in such difficult conditions. Thanks for running the event, I think it was the right decision although it must have been marginal with the amount of surface water.

Without the efforts of you and all your volunteers, marshalls, timekeepers etc. these events would not happen so please pass on my thanks from me and my fellow Wanderers.

Thanks again for getting the event on today…the rain wasn’t quite biblical, but it didn’t feel far from it at times :) .

I spoke to a couple at the HQ, but would you mind passing on my very heartfelt thanks to all the marshalls please? The only thing that could possibly be nastier than riding in that weather is standing around in it! Many of them even managed to clap and shout some encouragement, which was really appreciated!

Well that was interesting for my first ever TT! I had to keep reminding myself it was character building... that wind!! I'm extremely impressed at people's times in those conditions.

Great to have completed my first ever TT organised so well by ACC, well done to Andrew and everyone. Thanks also to all the cheering marshalls, I couldn't really see your faces as you were so covered up, but your pointing and encouragement was hugely appreciated and was a nice little pick me up at those roundabouts.

At least next time I'm sure to get a PB! Thanks again,

Naomi.

All the marshalls were really supportive as I rode the course and I felt like I was in good hands as a competitor.
Also, top notch start and results sheets plus the cakes were good too!

I would like on behalf of all the IngearquickvitTrainsharp.R.T riders to thank you for organising such a good event and send our thanks to the Time keepers and marshalls for turning out on such a terrible morning. Hopefully the weather next year will be better, we will be back.
