Road information : The Zigzag, Mickleham
Location: D311 THE ZIGZAG - MICKLEHAM

From 23 April 2012 to 1 May 2012

Description of location:
from outside the Smith & Western restaurant through to the junction with Old London Road and includes both the two Surrey County Council sections and the National Trust section.

Days of work: Monday to Friday. Road Closed

Times of work: 07.00 to 19.00

What will the work involve?
Carriageway maintenance, Removal of speed humps

Why is the work being done?
Worn road surface is being renewed, Road safety, Accident reduction

How will my route be affected?
There will be lane closures, Sign-post diversions will be in place, Delays likely, seek an alternative route where possible

Details of diversion routes
A signed diversion route will be in place during all times the road is closed using B2209 Old London Road, A24 London Road/Deepdene Avenue, A25 Reigate Road, B2032 Station Road/Pebble Hill Road, B2033 Headley Common Road, D311 Boxhill Road.

Who has been informed about the roadworks?
Letterdrops to residents, Letterdrops to local businesses, Surrey Police, Press, Information on the web

Who is doing the works?
Tarmac National Contracting

Rode up Box Hill yesterday evening. Beautifully smooth tarmac where they've resurfaced. :D

The resurfacing job isn't yet completed though, so expect the daytime closures to continue.

Funny then how the [url=http://www1.surreycc.gov.uk/highways/template3.cfm?id=4812&district=Mole%20Valley&town=MICKLEHAM&roadName=THE%20ZIGZAG&roadNo=D311]Surrey County Council link to the works[/url] reports "The road improvement scheme you are looking for has now been completed and is no longer listed."

Update: (3/5/2012 at 11:38)
Due to the exceptional levels of rainfall over the past couple of weeks the resurfacing works along the above road have been seriously delayed and so we are now not expecting to finish them until next the end of Wednesday 9 May 2012 but again this date is subject to weather conditions. No works will take place over the bank holiday weekend so the road will be open as normal. All other information re the diversion route and working hours remian as described below (see website)

Days of work: Monday to Friday. Road Closed

Times of work: 07.00 to 19.00

Should be ok to ride at the weekend - Murray

We drove up it after the TT on Tuesday to have a butchers. Looks OK until you get to the top - looks like they still have a section to do from the top of the hill to the Smith & Western.
