Hounslow 25 22/7

Postby Andrew G » Sun Jul 22, 2012 2:52 pm

Lucy, Dom and myself at Bentley this morning. They were both off early and I was off right at the back of the field. Seemed a lovely morning but a tough rising wind developed.

I struggled to get my speed up early on but got it up, so to speak, after the first turn with the wind behind. At the second turn my average was where I thought it might be but back in to the wind which had really picked up and I lost a full 1mph off the average on the next leg. Speaking to Old Ports Bashers after and he said he lost a similar amount on this headwind stretch. I tried to push for the finish but wasn't happy with my time.

Me 1:01:28 (first time over the hour on this course for 2 years)
Dom 1:00:13
Lucy 1:05:17 PB :D .

Julia Shaw was also out this morning with a 54:32 and Steve Whitewick was the unsuprising winner with 51:33.

I was lucky then being off number 5. Absolutely lovely with just a light wind. Shame I had a cold and only had 4.5 hours sleep because of work but hey ho it was a glorious day.

My fastest time for 3 years. Bit disappointed with not going under the hour but I put that down to comfort issues. Had to keep getting off the saddle to relief the pressure. The Adamo I have is fine when I am training on it, usually with just a cheap pair of shorts, with really thin padding, but I was in agony today so it must be the skin suit.

Hopefully be back on this course in September to give it a proper go.

Well done Lucy for another PB, who needs to warm up then

Shame about those few seconds but a very good ride squeezed in between work shifts. Wilko's 50 I mentioned just seen that it's 2nd fastest ever. He's entered a 12 so without problems a good shot at comp record for that and looks like he wants the BAR.

Great day for a pb!! :D I really wanted to do a good one today, and so decided to miss the Crawley Wheelers 10 yesterday.

All went right to plan, I did get in a reasonable warmup, up and down the road! Got to the line on time, and everything felt right :D So glad I got my headset sorted at GB's yesterday, its amazing how much easier it is to go round a roundabout when you can actually steer the bike!

Julia Shaw really is amazing 8)

Got home, watched the tour :D and had a drink :D :D Big grin, great day for cycling!!
