After enjoying the free cycling events I want to experience a bit more olympics action in our fair city. Bit tricky with work but the marathon's are at the weekend. The women's is on the 5th August and the Men's on the 12th. 5th will be out but I'm going to keep the 12th free from a race.
The route (link below) comes through The City 3 times and jinks about quite a bit. I work here so know it well and if not more importantly some good pubs.
Should anyone fancy joining me for a ride up to The City (not a race but a reasonable paced ride not just dawdling along) and watching the men's marathon, a bit of jinking about down the back roads to see a couple of places, and a couple of nice pints on the 12th then post here. I'll put up details of where I'm leaving from and at what time nearer the 12th. If the weather's good then there's always the option to have a spin along the river towards the South Bank. Could try and time it to see them twice in The City and then dive over London or Tower Bridge (nice view of the rings on Tower Bridge from London Bridge) and along Southwark and Stamford Streets to try and catch them again on Westminster Bridge as they approach the finish.
Anyhoo, that's the plan...
