Addiscombe Open 10 TT - CANCELLED

Postby Jon H » Fri Aug 03, 2012 10:58 am

I am promoting our open 10 mile time trial on Saturday 1st Sept 2pm on the Holmwood course.

As always, helpers needed - positions as follows (as a minimum):
Course signs - Me
Pusher - Rob Royle-Evatt
Marshalls at halfway rbt x2
Marshalls at turn x2 Lyndsey Greenslade
Finish timekeepers assistants - Tom Barnes & Andy K
Canteen - Keith & Amy
Results board - Me

Entries from riders welcome too - on a standard CTT entry form (I have moved house so the address in the handbook is incorrect - new address is on the CTT website under the handbook amendments section)

A quick question, as this an open event, do you need to have a race licence to participate?

thanks as always

No. So long as you are a member of a CTT affiliated club (have you paid your subs?), all you have to do is get your form and entry fee to the organiser 2 weeks before the event.

As long as it will finish so that I can get away by 5pm - I'm happy to help!

Jon,

Seeingas I have decided to stop racing this year I will be available to help. Happy to marshall a roundabout or wherever you need me!

Thank you to the folks who have offered their help for this event, it is much appreciated.

However...
By the official closing date for entries of yesterday evening I had received a grand total of 12 entries.
It is not viable to run an open event for as few entries as that, so I have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the event.

What a shame, not the most popular course but usually c50.

Perhaps later holidays after the Olympics.

It is a shame, but I have to say a lot of events this year have had low fields :(

I think in part it's due to the Olympics being in London which is a bit of a one off which people have wanted to enjoy, which may also have meant changes in holiday dates, but the biggest factor is probably down to the terrible weather.

I know that due to the rain that didn't seem to want to ever stop I didn't get the training I wanted done which has meant I've been racing without really being fit all year. Some probably just decided not to race but I like my cake too much for that :) . It also meant a lot of DNS (4 plus one DNF this year for me) at the time which probably put people off entering to have to keep sending in apologies.
