SCCU 100

DNS from me as for no reason I hardly slept last night. A 100 mile race with very little sleep wasn't going to be good idea.

Fingers crossed Rob and Carl have good rides.

George and I worked that out when we didn't see you come by. Saw Carl but was too late to see Rob R-E. Can't imagine it was much fun in the rain

I was hoping it was localised to here, you don't want that in the last hour of a 100.

Nice ride until the heavy downpour, it absolutely hammered it down only for 5 mins or so about 50 miles into my race but enough to make me want to dnf as the surface water on the A24 turned into a river. I lost a gel and my bottle flew out of my saddle bottle holder leaving me with no drink for the remaining 40 miles

Passing dial post onto the next circuit with 40 miles to go the lure of HQ and a cup of tea was too much to pass up,plus i was concerned about my family back at the campsite stuck in the tent bailing out water again just like friday and sat!
Took it fairly steady for 58 ish miles averaging around 24.6/8 mph and feeling good so i think i got my pacing correct for my first 100
Thanks to george, Paul T and co for your unexpected support it was much needed :D
Sorry to hear you were a dns Andrew although maybe a blessing as the downpour was horrendous

Am amazed it was only 5 mins Carl.. Geroge and I and a few others hid in a farm shop just outside Rusper for nigh on an hour. Unlucky sounds like you were going well!

What rain? :o I must have totally missed it. Heading south having done the first 60 +miles I found the roads wet, and a few spits but that was it. First 75 miles I was running well until the wind got and absolutely killed me on the A24, the back roads were fine flying along. Carl sorry to hear about your ride , you looked like you were going well. Ended up with 4:36:20 inc late start of 40seconds

Well done Robert great time. You must have been lucky to miss the rain- being an early starter must have helped as it got me just north of dial post around 9.30
Sorry to hear you got the brunt of the downpour Dominic and thanks for your support

The showers were definitely localised, I was handing up to Robert and was basking in the sun at the layby just before the oast RAB, then I drove down to the finishing circuit. Once you got to the lights it was black and pouring down but before you got to the turn it was bright sunshine again. I stood at the top of the hill with a few others and enjoyed the sunshine again for the remaining laps.

WEll done Robert good ride there mate, you were very lucky as Dom and I had to ride through the wettest downpour I've ever experienced to get home, and that was after wiring it out for an hour at Tanhouse farm coffee shop.

Shame you didn't finish Carl as it was almost a float day albeit with a bit of rain, you could have challenged me for the 100 mile tt trophy.
