ACC Club Hillclimb 8th December Start now 10:30

Postby Phil H » Mon Oct 29, 2012 8:13 pm

ACC Hill Climb to take place on Saturday 8 December 2012, commencing at 10:31 am. This is limited to 30 competitors (first come first served, email to me in advance and any places left taken on the day.

This is a bona-fide club event with police approval, exactly as the evening 10's so we cannot mess about with start times etc. Entry fee is £3 to cover CTT levy.

The climb is a recognised CTT course - GH-10 and starts at the bottom of Wimlands Road, just over the level crossing, when approached from the A264, and finishes just past the junction with Wimlands Lane, grid reference of start 203, 334

The Pip Heathfield trophy will be presented to the fastest rider. (there may be some cash for the fastest junior....who knows?)

Once everyone is at the top, approximately 10:40am, there will be a downhill event (no pedalling - cranks to be strapped) I will have a supply of cable ties. Entry fee £1. Entries close at 11:00 am. (otherwise I could be there all day!!!)

The Nonna Rosa trophy will be awarded to the rider covering the furthest distance.

There is a cafe almost opposite the end of Wimlands Lane http://www.newhousefarmshop.co.uk/ for a quick repast before heading home. Alternatively, head back via the Charlwood cafe.

I'm in!

We briefly spoke about this the other day on the CR Phil, I think it's a great idea! I take it they'll be a 'wooden spoon' award? I'll be gunning for that.

Paul Taylor, this would be a great event for you to put your new superbike through it's paces...

I can strongly recommend this. I rode the hill, went down testing the freewheel, on the way to Steyning the other week. It is not a savage steep climb like the Bec etc and anyone could give it a good bash. The freewheel is always fun, can anyone topple Grahame?

It's close to the club run so easily fits in to a club run although to be there for 10 a bit earlier departure from CSS will be required.

Ignore the OoO. PvT feels the need to put it on every night for some reason.

Assuming that my wife is not in the middle of sprog delivery, I'll be there for the down bit at least.

Update - start time is apparently 10:30 so a little later.

PvT is processing the entries but he's only picking them up from e-mail, not from here so if you want in, e-mail him. You may get an Out of Office message if it's in the evening. Don't worry.

It was agreed at the committee meeting where this event was discussed, that the trophies would be awarded as follows:

Hillclimb - Pip Heathfield Trophy

Downhill (Freewheel) Event - Nonna Rosa Trophy

Not as in the original post.

Should've known better than to past PvT's e-mail verbatim. Of course I'm sure it's all clear in the minutes - which I don't seem to have received yet.

Matt, we were intending to ride out. I was going to suggest a steady group leaving CSS at 8:30.

Phil, let me know what arrangements you have in mind for time-keeping the hillclimb part, so that I won't be able to ride :(

I intend to be out that day and would like to challenge Grahame & Phil N for the downhill part - been stoking up on full English, crisps and curries etc for a while now and have strictly limited my cycling to the Leisure Rides and occasional short club runs :)
Also, I only have heavy bikes made of real steel. In fact, just give me the Nonna Roas Trophy now, Phil  :!: :!:

I should've quoted the original as it's from PvT's mail. I understand that Paul and Phil N will be timing so there's nothing to stop you riding the hillclimb. Sorry. You could always adjust your front mech so that your chain unships when you shift and make out that you've have a mechanical. That's a strategy I was considering.

Cool, I'll have to enter this then!! I'll come up with the steady group then if thats alright.
Do you have to fill out a form for this or do you just turn up with the money?

Thanks,
Matt

No form needed for the event but we do need a parental consent form. If you've already done one of these for the TTs then don't worry though - they last all season.
