Wiggins and Sutton

Both hit by cars in different parts of the country within a few hours of each other.

Good to see the cycling success having such a positive effect on driving.

Time to throw the book at both drivers and give them the maximum penalty available being as both stories are national news and in the public eye. Might send out a warning that carelessness when driving can cost you dearly though doubt it will alter certain drivers attitudes towards cyclists.

In both cases "no arrests have been made" but the BBC also report - reassuringly - that neither driver was injured. So that's OK then.

I don't know the circumstances of Sutton's crash, but looking at the road/garage where Wiggins' incident happened, the woman must've just pulled out of the garage without looking. How that is "with due care and attention" I don't know.

Maybe the new Sky/GB kit should be hi-viz.

Wiggins even made the Sun front page  (No, I don't get the Sun - just saw it while at the local shops, please  ...)

Can't say I've noticed much difference in the attitudes of drivers since the Olympics - have had some more close shaves, drivers chasing after me because they didn't like me pointing out that driving that close to a cyclist tends to scare the sh*t out of them, Mr Angry actually getting out his car because not only did we have right of way but the car in front had stopped to let us through, whole cab-loads giving my ACC group the finger last Saturday, two women drivers who expected me to get out of their way...
