Club Kit

Saw plenty of groups from local clubs out whilst riding around the Surrey lanes this morning: Norwood Paragon, Redhill, Horsham, Kingston Wheelers.

Not sure if I saw a group from Addiscombe. How would I know?

It's not about the colour or the look, it's about supporting your club. And anyway, if you were riding in the Tour de France and got the yellow jersey, what would you say? "No thanks, I would rather have blue"!!!!!!!

Apparently the yellow jersey skin suit is very uncomfortable (yes I got the Bradley book for Xmas), so maybe you would prefer to have something else.

I have to admit it does look very good when you have a group all wearing club kit, as well as making people aware of which club you belong to, it looks smart.

I am shown respect even wearing Astana kit. Just last year, toiling up Bwlch at the end of the Dragon Ride, some kindly local riders parted to let me through, with a friendly cry of "Go Alberto!" and the observation that the salami obviously hadn't kicked in yet.

Great Points Keith
I think more people wearing the kit will lead to more people wearing the kit and vice versa. Here's are some points I've thought about and have been mentioned by 1 or 2 others I've spoken to
Agreeable Points
1.The kit gives us a happy sunny demeanour
2 We seem friendly and more cohesive
3. Large group all looking the same more likely to be respected by traffic (assuming we're not riding like numpties)
4. We look like a club and not a bunch of individuals
5.You get a definite sense of belonging
6. We're all the same - despite the fact your bike cost £4000K and mine costs £750
7. We're more likely to be respected by other clubs
8. Its aesthetically more pleasing - google pictures of Addiscombe Cylcing Club and you'll see what I mean. (Who will ever forget the 100 members riding together picture
9. Racers wear them - OK I can't beat George but still...we're in the same team
10. Its the safest looking club kit you can wear

Disagreeable Points
1. We look intimidating
2. The kit is awful
3. We' should be allowed to be individuals
4. I don't want to wear it coz I'm not a racer
5. The quality is poor

Personally, I like the new kit Thanks to all those who gave their time freely to not only design it but get it into production. As a caveat I too am not a great fan of Santini, however, I understand they unlike many other manufacturers can produce the kit at an affordable price.

Also a big Chapeau to JP and John G, who like the club and kit sooo much they have taken it on a world tour.
