Yeah - this was my first open event of the season after a poor start to the year due to cold weather and illness. Up until this one I had only managed to turn out a 27 and a 26 in a couple of evening 10s, so this one was a pleasant surprise.

The course is interesting - after a half mile downhill start it's more or less uphill for 5 miles to the turn and, of course, 4 and a half miles back down to the finish. It's smooth dual carriageway all the way and with the right wind conditions could be fast.

For the record I also rode the Newbury RC 25 on 27 April and grovelled round in 1:07:49 in horrible conditions including two squally hail showers. My slowest 25 for many a year!
