Strava Problems

Postby Matt W » Tue Apr 30, 2013 8:07 pm

I was just wondering if any strava users had any problems with strava skipping bits of a ride. It's starting to mess up the results!
e.g. http://app.strava.com/activities/51568587

If you had and have resolved it or have any suggestions, that would be great.

Thank you

Funny you should bring this up Matt as I lost a segment so AN Other at the weekend. Looking at the comparison with my ride he must have had nitrous fitted as he pulls out a 30 second gap on me in 5 seconds. Obviously a glitch.

What are you recording with? Looks like your device had a glitch. Have you tried manually uploading the file?

It is just XML so if you're very sad you can read it (I have manually repaired files before and I am very sad).

I thought that too Ant (same with comparison to mine) especially as he was riding with two other guys, and their time is both 1 min slower than him there. But I don't think you can fault the rider here, does look like a genuine glitch. I have become a specialist in tracking the right from the wrong when I receive the uh oh emails : ) Most of the time it's people who forget to turn their phone off at the end of a ride and drive off to the shops or pick up the kids at school. Funny that they upload the ride and give it a title but fail to notice all the crowns that show up though.

One of them is a bit of a mystery though and I even though the rides look suspiscious I haven't found an obvious proof of it http://app.strava.com/athletes/1286622

I've never recorded a ride on a phone Matt so I don't know about your issue, never had one with a Garmin.

Spoke too soon - looks like someone has flagged most of his rides since last time I looked at him!

I'm recording with my phone: HTC Wildfire S. I've manually uploaded information when it didn't work if that's what you mean.
I seem to of fixed it by un-installing apps I don't need so it might of been a memory thing. The glitches didn't give me any KOM's though!! I now have two KOM's on my own steam though so I'm happy now
Cheers anyway

There are all sorts of problems with Strava not recording segments, losing them completely, not recognising them, they come and go, come and go. Just go to the Strava users forum to see how many glitches there are and how frustrated some people get!!! It went wobbly on me a little while ago but seems to have settled down. It is the Strava software - not your device. Frustrating when you've just racked up a dozen KoMs and they've not been recognised (not that that's ever happened to me you understand!).
