Third race at Palace, the week before was cancelled due to the rain.
Better luck this time round though as we had a lovely sunny evening, a warm 18 degrees! Clockwise again because of the wind.
I cycled over again this week, but I didn't refuel or stretch after so I wasn't feeling brilliant.
During my short warm up and the beginning of the race I noticed some strong looking cyclists. I just stuck in their wheel!
During the race we had a few people trying to break away, nothing big. I was shocked when I looked back. I was a lone ranger about 10 meters ahead! I was at the front doing my turn at the front, pushing about 80% but once again it was the corners that gave me distance. I didn't brake, looked behind me, and they were gone. Two looked as though they were sprinting to catch me! I eased off though knowing we still had about 7 laps to go; I didn't fancy doing that all on my own!! I smiled to myself knowing I had wasted their energy though
I was near the front the rest of the race. The final lap was quite slow though going through the bell. It ended up being a sprint.
I was four back when we went round the final bend. I was going to try what I did last time (go around the outside) but I went to wide I was pleased with my sprint though. I managed to close the gap I had made and got into third. I was coming up behind first and second with quite a bit of speed, but I don't think I got second. I pushed my bike forward at the last second so it was very close!
If only I hadn't gone wide I could of got my first win!
It's only my 3rd race though (I don't count cyclopark because I had no idea what I was doing) so I'm still learning!
