The Scotsman flies again

Postby Phil H » Tue Sep 10, 2013 9:05 pm

Graeme Obree is in the US at the moment making an attempt on the human-powered land-speed record. Yet again, the Scottish steel-wrangler has come up with a machine not quite like any other. Called "Beastie" he is face down, head forwards with his chin just above the front wheel. Today he qualified for the finals in the competition.

The current record is 82.8mph held by Canadian Sam Whittingham.

What's happened? Last time I looked, he was gunning for 83+mph, and now he seems happy enough with the prone recumbent record of 56mph?
