I entered this as something to get me out of bed on a Sunday morning, and to see how a trip following the Vuelta had affected my fitness (which this year has been somewhat lacking).
With a choice of 50, 80, or 103 miles, I opted for the middle one, which was a fairly flatish route heading NW from Hove, heading out to some familiar roads from various TT courses near to Loxwood and Plaistow, back towards Hove with a little sting in the tail in the form of Devil's Dyke just before the end.
Chilly morning on the seafront, so I started quite briskly to get warmed up. Anyway, I was soon catching and passing people, but not finding any groups to work with at the pace I wanted to ride at. So, I kept plugging away alone and carried on that way to the finish.
Well, with a time of 4hrs 36, it turns out I was fastest out of about 90 who did the middle distance.
Quite chuffed with that
