Southdowns Bikes Sporting Classic, 2nd Feb '14

First event of the season for me. 34km hilly time trial from Storrington.

Stand out performance of the morning for me was 3rd place Dan Gardner, a junior on a road bike!

Strong headwind on the way out. Seemed a lot busier this year; I had to back off 4 times due to cars, actually stopping at one point. Last year I had a clear run.

My time was good enough for 3rd road bike, plus 2nd vet overall, so I came away with a rear light, 2 latex inner tubes and a £20 voucher for Southdowns Bikes which I promptly spent on the shop opposite race HQ

Thanks to Simon McNamara and his team for a well run event. Loads of marshals out on the road.

Ah, same as I use my early SPOCOs for. I still don't start them until March though , but I'm much lazier than you.
