I fancy a bit of aqua-cycling.

Met office forecast - Today
Mainly cloudy skies today with showers, some quite heavy at times, before merging into persistent rain later. Moderate southwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 14 deg C (57 deg F).

If it's a 6pm start then I would have to meet you at Selson @ 6:10pm, otherwise is 6:30 at GB's / 6:40 at Selson too late?

I can doo later if 6pm is too early for some.

The BBC forecast this morning said it would be dry this evening. Will there be anybody there if it is raining?

As the ride is only a couple of hours (or less if we cut it short) I don't think it will be that bad if it is only showers. It's a different story if it blowing a gale with heavy cold rain. I desperately need this last blast before the Gran Fondo Cymru so I'll be making the effort.

The consensus seems to be a 6pm start - so I'll meet at Selsdon @ 6:10pm.

Well - I may regret the lapse but the combination of an excellent lunch in the Bleeding Heart resaurant off hatton garden, rain and a 64 bus detour on the way home convinced me that I could do a virtual ride and use the time to scan the route for Sunday's big effort - hope the ride went well for you stalwarts.

Alan,
you didn't miss anything unless cold water running through your shoes is your thing. Ended up riding straight home from Farleigh Common.
Second day running I have been soaked to the skin. Beginning to sink into a depression about the weather now!

Showers? what showers? More like persistent heavy rain. The five of us who turned up (Paul, Matt, Jim who I thought was Andrew ??, Yohan and myself), managed to do most of the route, only missed out White Lane. Thankfully, it was not too cold, so felt fairly comfortable, though very wet and covered in road dirt - a bit reminiscent of windsurfing this time of year.

Yohan and Paul simultaneously got punctures from the road works debris in the lanes around Chelsham. No fun sorting that out cooling down in the rain.

I'm glad I made the effort, as it wasn't too bad, though probably wouldn't have gone if I had seen the forecast as constant heavy rain. With weather the way it is at the moment this is something we will need to get use to I guess, else loose out on valuable cycling time. Huw's £200 waterproof sounds like a good investment if it continues, because the worst bit was sprinting down Featherbed Lane at speed feeling the rain penetrating through my not-so-waterproof top.
