I had entered this in order to take a crack at George's 30 mile TT record of 1:05:46 (27.3 mph) and had spent the last 2 months telling everyone I was going to take it.
Didn't know what to expect as this was my first TT greater than 25 miles but the course (G30/88) is down near Uckfield and is rolling without too many roundabouts and no serious climbs. Course goes up and down the A22 with a couple of darts off in order to make up the distance.
Started off nice and fast as it is a long gradual descent for the first 5 miles so was well up on record time, and kept good pace on the climb back up. Near the top of the course the wind started to hit and made it a real grind, started on the homeward leg still on good time but the final 5 miles consist of a bit of a dog leg off the A22 before a quick climb to the finish, this section absolutely destroyed the legs and ended up crawling home.
Should have probably had a gell or something half way round but I know for next time overall time of 1:08:53 (26.1 mph) which wasn't too far off the winning time of 1:05:37 by Pete Tadros, finished 6th and just outside the money.
