ECCA 10

Another Saturday afternoon trip up to Cambridgeshire to the E2/10 course, this week Robert Royle-Evatt joined Richard Viney and myself. Although a hot afternoon there was a breeze blowing which would mean crosswinds on the course which could slow things down.

Well it certainly didn't slow Richard down, he stormed round to record a new pb of 21:01, a fantastic ride and well up in the overall results.

Robert also did a pb, with a 22:21.

I was 13 seconds slower than my new pb set last week, 22:12.

We must have been reasonably close to the team prize?

I think so too. All the results were on the board when I left but they were faffing about a bit. At one point they wrote up the top five (you were 4th), then crossed them all out again. I couldn't be bothered hanging around after that.

The team record is 1:04:46, so we were within a minute of it. If we'd been lucky and got a float day it might have gone.

The individual record is 20:25 by John Withey.

Some of the other team records are more do-able than the 10; watch this space!

I'd persuaded Rob to ride this one so that we could have a shot at the Team Record. It is presently 1.04.46. My calculations make our team time 1.05.34 so 48 seconds off it. If we'd had a bit less wind we could have got very close. Looks like it will now have to wait till the late part of the season before we can get everyone together on a fast 10 course again.

If we can get everyone riding at the same time this year there are a selection of team records that could be threatened. If anyone else fancies joining in the effort let me know and I'll let you know the events I'm thinking about

The individual 10 record is 20.25 by John Withey which is still a fair way off. My aim this season is knock off the 2 seconds to turn a 21 into a 20. The record is on my target list for next season though.
