2006 ACC Road Race

A Place to idle the day away talking about anything you fancy. Expect to find cycling and non cycling topics inside

Good idea Toks. September though isn't a particularly great month as we have the ACC 10 on 9/9, the President's 10 on 16/9 and usually the track championships are some time that month as well.

Put me down for the Bs

You will also need to talk to/email Paul West at BC about insurance. Under the old structure we could insure club races open to first claim club members only for a pretty modest payment and without any requirement for the riders to be BC members/licence holders but not sure what the position is now given the new racing structure.

Where do the women stand in there then - surely there are enough in the club who would like their piece of the action too. Race in Cat C with the boys?

I would be up for it again and offer encouragement to Toks, Eastway does sound like the ideal venue. Remember Rob didn't race when he promoted though ;-)

Generally in races, the women get lumped in with the 4th cats.
It would really depend on who shows up to race. Women road racers/strong time triallists go in group B - novices in group C. If there are more than 4 riders we get our own race.

Also, if you could name the date well in advance that will be handy. Last year none of the women could make it as it clashed with a UCI women's event that we were involved in.
I agree with Richard that September can be quite a busy month - a few championship races, track champs, presidents tt, open 10, Westminster crits, last chance to grab points etc.
End of September/early October ??

Wow thanks for all the responses. Ok here goes
Either (1) Sept Sat 24th; (2) Sept 25th at 2pm
Or a week later (3) Sept Sat 30th; (4) Oct 1st at 2pm
Why Eastway?

1. The facilities are much better than Hillingdon (proper changing rooms, shower facilities, cafe TV etc)
2. Eastway will close in September so it'll be a great for ACC to help send off London's most famous cycle racing circuit.
3. Its very close to me so I can do all the necessary ground work quite easily.
4. Its a great Crit, tough but not too tough
5. With the club's current cyclosportiv obsession Hillingdon would be a cop out!

Ok let me know which date is preferable and I'll book it on thursday.

Err ya having a laugh mate :) With 55 minute 25's I may have to put you in an A+ group...also there'll be a lady's prize too even, if none show

Maybe we should have a race to determine ability - then we can do the handicaping

I'd prefer Sunday 24th - there's cyclo x on Saturday 23rd, (probably at Eastway) which I hope to do.

The following week -more cyclo x and also Surrey League handicap races on Sunday 1st.

Yep its definitely on Gavin!. I'm gonna see if I can get some goodies from G butlers as prizes. If not I'll be asking you lot to look amongst you various cycling bits and bobs for things you could donate as prizes. I'm also gonna need a few extra hand on the day to help out. I

ts still three months away so I don't wanna give it over exposure. I'll talk to Marco as well to see if we could design a king of web flyer for the event... Good luck in the Marmotte Gavin. When you return you need to join the fast boys on a saturday which will good training for the road race .
