A very special ride - 23rd July

Dear ACC Member

I am helping to organise a small event - the Annual Croydon Portage Sponsored Bike Ride. Croydon's Portage service is a a small team of dedicated workers who provide a family visiting education service for 3-5 year olds with disabilities. They use the proceedes of the ride to buy special toys which become part of their toy libraryand equipment for Croydon families.

I have done the ride twice before and it is unlike usual rides for ACC members in that it is only 27 miles, relatively flat quiet lanes and it appeals to all riders including children and novices. The route is well marked and there is support and help along the way and bit of a festival feel, usually no more than about 80 riders. This is an ideal ride for introducing family members or friends to cycling and any type of bike or rider is welcome. It is not a competition and the pace can be any that feels comfortable.

The route is a circular one from the Red Barn Inn, Blindley Heath, 9.30 for 10 am start and I will be sending you off in groups of a dozen or so.

If you would like to do this ride just PM within the next week providing me with full names of riders, address, home telephone and mobile number and we'll send you packs and details. The sponsorship is whatever you want to contribute and as I said all the money will be used for toys and equipment for this group of children with relatively high levels of learning need.

I really hope that I will be seeing some of you on the ride

Best wishes

I am just bouncing this back to the top of the page in case anyone is still thinking about it?? Very family orientated event - lots of young mums and dads and good number of children, flat course and a good cause.
